Overview

Sentient is aligning AI innovations toward a community-built open AGI.


During brand launch, I worked on the design and development of the company website as well as a conference that contain a website and other related graphic materials.

Impacts

It is backed by many big players and a has achieved a remarkable fundraise, I remember a press said "they redefined the seed round".

The project gained huge attention and after launch.

Process
Philosophy

Notion looking website to address "Openness"

For the website, we abandoned a few versions of standard landing page designs. And we decided to use notion to build it out to show community that we would build everything openly.


However, it is not as easy as it seems. We did a lot of customization and revision based on the notion website to achieve our business needs.

Ongoing themed events — "OpenAGI Summit"

Sentient intend to engage with the community by hosting a series of in-person events over the world — "OpenAGI Summit".


Each one will have a theme colour and we need to prepare a website containing all related infos including (speakers, agendas, sponsors) and other materials (print, slides, marketing posters).

Multi Time Zone

Our team work from anywhere, and it's difficult to sync up.

We have tons of info for website and especially events.

Technical Constraints

Notion doesn't allow much customization.

Collaborations

Clear documentation & communication to collaborate smoothly

We have founders, designers, marketing teams work all together and people are in different time-zones. It's difficult to co-work, so we use notion, figma, google sheet, google docs, and telegrams to sync up with what to do.


The content change everyday, especially for event preparation due to uncertainties. We ordered rounds of iterations to keep everyone on track.

Customization

Customize website that still keeps a notion style

Notion has many limitations in terms of what it can do. We using built-in modules to achieve our goal, but sometimes we have to make up things.


For example, we have to built out side navigation using third-party plugins and some coding to achieve the ideal effect. I learned front-end coding using my free time in order to fix the problems.

Everyone has his own strength, and a great collaboration is everyone is willing to take responsibility.

There are always things we don't know, but it's ok. Be honest about it and be open to learn and try it out. Embrace all the changes and remember "We're builders".

Don't ignore any small mistake, catch it and fix it. Having a high standard with all the deliverables because that's a presentation of who we are to the world.
